5 WAYS TO TREAT SUNBURN
Sunburn is a very painful skin problem usually caused by long exposure to sunlight. It normally creates a pinkish to reddish look and produces a feeling of a burning sensation on skin. It inflicts long-lasting, wrinkle-inducing damage on skin. This case can lead to serious skin cancer if not avoided. But it’s preventable by using the right products (sunscreen, shade and clothing)
Here 5 ways to ease the pain and maybe, lessen the damage.
- Do not wait until you feel it.
- Act quickly. Get out of the sun if you already feel a tingling of a burn or notice reddening on your skin. “Sunburn tends to sneak up on us. It can take four to six hours for the symptoms to develop,” says Barton Schmitt, a dermatologist. Start the treatment just right as soon as you feel it or even just see it on your skin. So a simple skin reddening can turn into a serious and a painful skin problem.
- Soothe your skin
- Moisturise your skin after a cool shower bath to soothe your skin. It is advisable to use moisturizing cream which are made of organic as it may contain natural extract of Vitamin C and E which are known to help lessen skin damage. Do not scrub, pick or peel it as it may cause too much pain. Re-apply moisturizing cream at least 2 times a day to avoid itchiness.
- Hydrate from within.
- After a topical action using creams, drink extra water and juice extracts. It will help the skin yearn back drawn fluids usually caused by any burns.
- Assess the damage skin.
- Observe the damaged skin in one week and if notice, burns produce blisters, seek a medical attention right away as it just simply explains that the sunburns you got cannot be treated at home.
GENERAL TIP: Always use sunscreen when planning to go under the sun. Let it be absorbed by the skin in 30 minutes before going out.
